The Biscuit Factory - putting you at the centre of your big day

After visiting wedding venue the Biscuit room - at the biscuit factory in Newcastle - it is clear how much they adapt to give the bride and groom everything they want from their big day.

The Biscuit factory offers a quirky and unique venue for your wedding in an exclusive gallery setting where they host only one wedding a day.

We spoke to events co-ordinator Katie Gorwits, about how important the couple and their needs are when she is arranging a wedding at the venue.

Katie, 25, said: "We are very creative in the fact that we want to allow people to really express themselves and do what they want. When we bring clients in I really like to sit down and actually have a chat with them and gage what they want. I think nowadays with a wedding it's really about personalising it. They don't just want standard package A, B, C and that's why we really try and make our couples feel special and that every day is unique."

The biscuit room is part of the biscuit factory which is a successful art gallery in Newcastle. The main gallery opened in 2002. They noticed the popularity of the cafe for events such as parties and drinks receptions so they decided to get their licence for weddings.

As the popularity of the setting grew they decided to buy the warehouse at the back which is now the biscuit room. Although you can still have your ceremony or drinks reception in the main gallery if you wish as your day is tailored to what you want.

If you do decide to get the artistic side of the biscuit factory involved in your wedding they offer more than just a ceremony space. Katie explained you can keep pieces of art you like up on the walls during your ceremony to save money on decorating the space plus guests can purchase items rather than having a gift list.

Katie said: "What a lot of couples do is ask guests to donate towards that and then they can buy a momento after. It's a really nice touch because it's a piece of art work that you're going to have forever and it's something you'll cherish as well and it will just remind you of the day."

Katie said the main selling point of the venue was the quality of the food. The menu is also another thing in the day that can be personalised to suit the couples needs.

She said: "I think our big selling point is the quality of food. We will give you a fantastic meal that your guests won't forget. We allow you to design the menu to suit yourself. Our restaurant is number two in the fine dining on trip advisor and one thing we really try and do is to allow couples to really put their own stamp on the food. That's when people can get really creative and say 'we love mexican, we love chinese' let's have that sort of food'."

Katie said she is mostly in charge of the weddings and adds a personal touch to each couples day.

She said: "You get a co-ordinator, basically myself, from day one. Helping to run it and being there on the day. I think when people book somewhere they book because of the person they met because they are putting so much trust into somebody and I actually end up becoming very good friends with some brides. The last thing you want is somebody to be stressed on their wedding day. You just want them to literally put their feet down and relax and enjoy themselves."

If this sounds like the perfect venue for your day see it for yourself at the open day on May 12. Check out the flyer below for more information.
