What are the benefits of booking directly with a florist?

Wedding planning is stressful there is no denying that! So companies that offer package deals for wedding where everything (even the flowers!) are organised for you can be tempting and for some people is the best option.

We spoke to Helen Fenwick ,69, from Grangetown Florists (who has worked in the industry for 52 years) about the benefits of booking directly rather than through events companies.

When asked what the main advantage of booking directly are she said: "You get to speak directly to somebody who actually orders the products. Where events companies put a price on the whole thing we price the individual items."

As we spoke to Helen she was working on a hand tie (pictured below) that had only been booked a few weeks in advance. She advised for larger weddings the customer should book up to a year in advance.

Hand tie bouquets are quite trendy at the moment. However, Helen said: "Long bouquets are coming back [into] fashion."

Helen does not offer brochures or package deals so she can personalise each bouquet to the customers needs. She said: "Everyone's different so we take it as each one comes. We've stopped doing brochures because every one wants something different because of the internet. You can go on and see anything."

As she reflected on her career Helen said: "A lot has changed but I still enjoy getting to talk to the brides and hear what they say."

Would you like to book directly with Helen? She creates bouquets, venue flowers, wrist corsages and even handbag corsages for the mothers-of-the-bride!
